Prenda – Home-Based Learning Communities

An exciting opportunity has the chance of starting this fall in New Hampshire. An educational organization called Prenda runs home-based learning communities and micro-schools -- schools for K-2, 3-6, 7-8 -- with a maximum of 10 or so students. These schools are run by guides, who help children set daily goals for learning math, writing, and reading, and also oversee collaborative endeavors and student directed projects. Creativity and independence are fostered through this model. The microschools are not full-time, usually run out of people's homes, perfect for the homeschooling family, or the family that is not comfortable with schools as they reopen in the fall. Opportunities exist for parents to become guides and run their own microschools, as well as for families to unite to start their own. Prenda also has a version for just families who want to stay in their homes to learn.

Prenda is hosting two virtual meetings; after registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting you selected. They intend to record and publish a session for later viewing.
