Education Bills Scheduled for Week of March 14, 2016

The following is the legislative schedule for the week of March 14, 2016. The legislative session is almost done with “cross over,” when the House and Senate trade bills; all surviving bills will be reassigned. The public has until the executive sessions to make an impact on the committees’ recommendations, which is very influential when the entire body votes. Contact information for the House Education Committee is at the end of this post. The Senate Education Committee does not have a session this week.

10:30 a.m. SB 453-FN, relative to comprehensive criminal background checks for individuals in registered and licensed child day care agencies, child care institutions, and child care agencies.
11:15 a.m. SB 152, relative to criminal history records checks for school employees and designated school volunteers.
1:00 p.m. SB 328-L, relative to school districts and school administrative units exercising joint powers with other public agencies.
1:45 p.m. SB 371, relative to school lunch meal payment policies.
2:15 p.m. SB 25-FN, relative to the administration of epinephrine.
2:45 p.m. SB 314, relative to the membership of the higher education commission

9:30 a.m. SB 322, relative to the provision and administration of bronchodilators, spacers, and nebulizers in schools.
10:15 a.m. SB 373, relative to the information technology infrastructure in public schools.
11:20 a.m. SB 312, relative to epinephrine administration in independent schools.
1:00 p.m. SB 316, relative to placement decisions by a child’s individualized education program team.
2:00 p.m. SB 460, authorizing the state board of education to adopt rules relative to child sexual abuse and healthy relationships.
