School Choice and Funding Charter Schools

Some legislators support school choice and it reflects in their actions. For others it is just lip service. Some in Concord are opposed to any options beyond traditional public schools.

We appreciate the efforts of Representative Ken Weyler to bring charter school funding to approximately 50% of the current average per pupil cost. The Union Leader article describes his attempt to still make it happen this year. The article also references the NH Department of Education’s questionable financial analysis. The NH Center for innovative Schools asked for clarification prior to the vote on HB 435, but the NH DOE has never responded.

More information about HB 435, including a link for the roll call vote, is available in our post titled “Support Public Charter School Funding.”
